Public translations

Service of Public translations:

To begin with, it is important to mention that public translations can be thought of as specialized texts.

This type of texts includes all those texts that are not directed to the general public (due to their complexity and language), but to a narrower and more knowledgeable audience in a specific field of study; the one that the original text belongs to.

Specialized texts are written by an expert and deal with different topics. What do they all have in common? The use of specialized language: specific structures and vocabulary that can look unnatural when compared to general texts.

Public translations are those that need to be presented before public entities, organisms or authorities. They require the signature and stamp of a sworn translator that certifies he or she is a member of a professional association of sworn translators.

This type of translations should follow the following criteria (to comply with the regulations set by the professional association of sworn translators):

  • Public translations must be done by a translator enrolled in a professional association of sworn translators. This means that not only does the translator need a degree in translation, but also they should have their signature and stamp registered in and be a member of said association. These requirements guarantee the content of the translation and its validity.
  • These translations are sealed on every page, certified and legalized by the corresponding professional association of sworn translators where the professional is registered. Besides, the layout, the type of paper and the format of the text are different from other types of translations.

Examples of this type of text include (but are not limited to):

  • Documents to be presented in foreign countries: IDs, birth certificates, death certificates, passports, school transcripts, academic records, diplomas, among others.
  • Other public documents such as business contracts, property deeds and titles, contracts, power of attorney documents, divorce decrees, among others.

A good translation is one that is perceived as if it had been written in the target language, that is to say, one that does not look like a translation; it looks like a text originally written in the target language.

In order to get the best translation, you should hire a professional translator whose expertise and extensive vocabulary can provide the best quality service.
